Karan Brar is an Indian-American movie actor who won a Young Artist Award three years in a row for his roles in Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010), Jessie, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2012). He also appeared in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2011) and Invisible Sister (2015). In the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, he is best known as playing Chirag Gupta. Brar was born on January 18, 1999 in Redmond, Washington to proud Indian parents Jasbinder and Harinder Brar who are of Indian ancestry and has one older sibling, a sister named Sabreena. Before his movie fame on the big screen, Brar studied acting at Patti Kalles workshops, at Cedar Wood Elementary School with John Robert Powers and Patti Kalles. He trained with a dialect coach to improve and perfect his Indian accent for the role before appearing in Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010). In April 2010, he appeared in the Seeds of Compassion advertorial campaign announcing the Dalai Lama’s visit to Seattle, as well as appearing in commercials for Shell Gasoline and Committee for Children. In March 2011, Brar reprised his role as Chriag Gupta in the film sequel Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2011).
