Gina Montana is a Native of New Orleans, LA best known for her role in the Indie classic Beasts of the Southern Wild. Ms. Montana delivers a memorable performance as Hushpuppy’s teacher, Miss Bathsheba. Montana is a natural-born actor having participated mostly in featured background and supporting roles. Montana is versatile and transforms easily from different styles and looks. Recently cast as a Bolivian Woman, Cholita in Our Brand Is Crisis, a shopkeeper from Mumbai in GeoStorm; African Creole Mid-wife (1830s) in American Horror Story and her iconic role in the Academy Award nominated Beasts of the Southern Wild as a woman from the bayou country of southeast Louisiana shows her classic versatility. A student of language, linguistics, literature, world history, music, art and culture also brings a strong sense of confidence and inner Spirit to each amazing performance. Queen Montana is a long-time New Orleans cultural artist masking in the unique tradition as Big Queen of the Yellow Pocahontas Mardi Gras Indians. The Yellow Pocahontas tribe is New Orleans’ 2nd oldest Mardi Gras Indian tribe. Sewing the bead work and masking Big Queen is a cultural art tradition originating in the Montana family and documented from almost two centuries ago. You can also see Ms. Montana in action as a music festival production expert at Essence Festival. Montana is a previous employee at the historic New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
