An American citizen since birth, Gary was born on an Air Force base in Weisbaden Germany, but only spent a year overseas before returning to the U.S. where he was raised in Morris, a small rural town in south Georgia. He was an All-State Football player, a 2-time State Basketball Champion, and a mediocre varsity baseball player. He began making short films when he got his first camera in 1985, and found a love both in front and behind the camera. After graduating from a high school class of only 17 people, he studied at the University of Georgia and Georgia State University before moving to Los Angeles where he began to work steadily as an actor. Although he has shot and lived all over the U.S., he will always consider Georgia “Home,” where he credits his passion and positive work ethic to his family and the people who surrounded him as he grew up. As an actor, Gary has had recurring roles on Resurrection (2014) and Finding Carter (2014) and is best known for his role as “Campbell” on the USA series Burn Notice (2007) (2014)_. He is credited with over 90 Film, TV, and Commercial appearances, including recent features Jurassic World (2015), Self/less (2015), Project Almanac (2015), The Spectacular Now (2013), Identity Thief (2013), as well as notable performances in TV’s Parks and Recreation (2009), The Office (2005), and Zombie Apocalypse (2011), The Walking Dead (2010). On the other side of the camera, he has written over 20 feature screenplays, produced many of them, and his films have won over 50 awards, including features Deadland (2009), which won 16 of those, and Meth Head (2013) that garnered 12 wins to date. Known mainly for his comedy writing, he penned many festival-darlings including 29 Reasons to Run (2006) and Clones Gone Wild (2009) that were also big winners and played at over 75 festivals. His love for film festivals led him to start one of his own, along with fellow actor/writer Chad Mathews, and “The Hill Country Film Festival” is now in it’s 7th year, and boasts some of the best indie film in the country.
